What are my credentials?
 
I am a Qualified Master Level Hypnotic Practitioner of Neuro-linguistic Programming trained by the co-founder of NLP, Dr Richard Bandler and Paul McKenna.  I have attended 26 days of intensive training with McKenna, Bandler and Michael Neil through NLP Life which is one of the primary sources of NLP training in the world and I also have a Certificate in Understanding Human Psychology and Behaviour following 1 year's course with hypnotherapy trainers Uncommon Knowledge.
 
 
How do I effect change?
 
 
As a vehicle for change, NLP is similar to hypnotherapy in the way that hypnosis (or trance) is used to enable relaxation and allow the client to gently understand and accept that change is possible.  I will agree with the client how to set in motion a process that will bring about changes in thinking patterns, beliefs and behaviours that will lead to true personal change.  NLP differs from other therapies insofar as the techniques concentrate on helping the client achieve their chosen goals or overcoming fears and phobias by being future oriented rather than dwelling on the past and the reasons problems may have arisen in the first place. It is more like a learning process or an education than a therapy and therefore the client will learn how to maintain their new found freedom for the times when the old habits and thinking patterns will try to creep back in!
 
Hypnosis, or trance, is a naturally occurring state of deep relaxation, similar to day dreaming, and is experienced by most people in one form or another either during their normal waking day such as when listening to music, watching TV, playing sport, working out, drifting off during a long train journey etc or perhaps when drifting off to sleep and when in a therapeutic trance the client is normally aware of what is going on during the session and able take a full part in the process of creating new possibilities for their lives or getting freedom from limiting beliefs or phobias.
 
So an initial session will consist of an agreement with the client as to what they want from the session, be it freedom from the past, more confidence for the present or a new belief and direction for the future.  We will then discuss how that freedom will be achieved, agree a strategy and outcomes and then begin the process for change.  At all times the client will be encouraged to use the very resources they have within them so that they can maintain their freedom and perhaps in turn even help others too.
